44 - The World Down Under

44 The World Down Under is by noted railway author Ron Preston and follows the same format as his previous productions.

Ever wondered how the colour scheme applied to 42, 43 and 44 class was evolved. Why was Indian red used as the base colour? In this last book from Ron Preston, these questions are answered together with the operating history of New South Wales Railway's renowned 44 class diesel electric locomotives. These units were, initially, not without problems and the many modifications made during their career are described. The Alco design used in the erection had counterparts, not only in South Australia but also in many other parts of the world and this book covers these aspects.

This book provides a lasting tribute for these very popular and much modelled locomotives.

This 210mm x 275mm 184 page hard cover book has 27 pages of colour photos.
